To begin with let us have a small introduction of this festival. Karwa means clay pot and chauth means fourth.so it commemorates the fourth day that follows the full moon in the kartik month of Hindu calendar.

Women this day fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and healthy lives of their husbands. They wake up early in the morning and get ready for their sargi. Sargi is the meal prepared by mother-in-law for her daughter-in-law which she will eat in the morning of the day of karwa chauth.. Then the whole day till moonrise they keep fast without even drinking water. This is also the way to celebrate this beautiful relationship of husband and wife.

Earlier boys don’t used to keep fast with their wives but now a days they have also started keeping fast to show their care for their wives. They help them in their daily routine that day while ladies get dressed up beautifully for their husbands.

And in the evening after moon rise ladies perform their ritual, they will see their husband’s faces through a sieve and then drink water from their husband’s hands to get their blessings. In this way they enjoy the whole day share their love with each other. So let’s enjoy this festival tomorrow with our husbands as it falls on 17^th of October this year. Have fun and enjoy this day.
